![]() ![]() Yep Lion Red Keg and a Sassy Red Keg for the Thumper Get some ujsm fermenting quick that thumper will love it !!Įdit do a leak check next time you heat her up by spraying dishwash liquid and water on the joins and look for bubbles forming Your flake (worm) bucket is too small unless you are going to run a garden hose very slowly into the bottom of the bucket, don't muck round with ice to cool it messes the temperature gradiant up. I mucked around with thumpers for a while. Kiwikeg wrote:hmm lion red keg you really are from out west.(I am in Te Atatu)Ī boiler will always syphon back a thumpers contents as the end of a run as it cools unless you break the airlock somehow. So it seems that somehow the water from the Thumper had travelled back to the boiler and increased its volume which seems backwards to me, how is this possible? I don’t want to run a sugar wash through until I’ve sorted this issue… I started off with 4L (1Gal) in the Thumper and 6L (1.5Gal) in the boiler, and after 45mins I had only 1L (1/4Gal) in the Thumper yet 9L (Just over 2Gal) in the Boiler… The water vapor (Steam) hadn’t reached the condensor eaither. However on my one of my water only cleaning runs I thought I’d check the water levels in the kegs and was rather confused by what I found… I haven’t run a sugar wash in the Mk2 yet, have only done a few cleaning runs with vinegar, citric acid and water etc, as I haven’t finished the input tube going to the Thumper it still needs bubble holes drilled at the bottom. Mk1 Still evolved to the Mk2 a few weeks ago after doing some research on Thumpers, hence I thought I’d give it ago and came up the design pictured. Was getting about 2L (~ ½ Gallon) of 80% abv after 2 runs from a 20L (5Gal) wash. I’d been playing around with the Mk1 Still for a while running sugar washes in order to get a feel for the Still and of course practice my cuts. In terms of construction I basically just looked at what other people had done, considered the materials I had available, applied a bit of basic physics and went from there. Heat source is a LPG burner from a UFO Cooker with an adjustable LPG regulator.Īs you can see I’m going for functionality before beauty, well at this stage anyway.
